Ken Griffey Jr.

The White Sox traded for legendary OF Ken Griffey Junior today, apparently under the impression that it is 1998, rather than 2008. The White Sox must also believe that he can play in the outfield still, because they already have a left-handed hitting DH in Jim Thome. One AL executive said “he can’t play”, here’s hoping maybe he can.

He's a platoon bat who provides lefty power, something we don't have outside of Thome. He will be playing in a rotation of outfielders designed to get guys rest and still give the Sox a shot to win.

Also, they gave up a long reliever and speed guy hitting .262 in AAA. I don't think they were under the impression it's 1998.
